Leo Orozco
Founder & Lead Systems Biologist
Leo Orozco is a PhD candidate in the Department of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology, where his research focuses on annotating genes related to complex traits in non-model organisms. His work aims to expand our understanding of genetic diversity and the evolutionary processes that drive it, with a particular emphasis on using semantic similarity analysis for functional genetic annotation in non model organisms.
In addition to his academic pursuits, Leo is the founder and lead systems biologist at SciAnno, a company dedicated to creating impactful science infographics, providing gene annotation services, and offering specialized expertise in marketing for scientific content. Through Scianno, Leo merges his scientific knowledge with a creative approach, helping communicate complex biological concepts clearly and effectively to both academic and general audiences.
